UNIT OF MEASUREMENT & ANALYSIS

Number of countries

INDICATOR DEFINITION

This indicator tracks the number of countries in which Food Assistance for Assets (FFA) and/or Food Assistance for Training (FFT) interventions have demonstrably contributed to enhancing and adapting the livelihood base and skills of beneficiaries.

The measurement is based on validated indicators, specifically capturing beneficiaries’ perceptions of how the improved asset base—resulting from FFA and/or FFT activities—has positively impacted their livelihoods. These perceptions are gathered through structured surveys and assessments.

MANDATORY COUNTRY-LEVEL INDICATORS & INCLUSION CRITERIA FOR APR AGGREGATION

Mandatory Country level Indicator(s) composing the corporate indicator:

Inclusion criteria for Mandatory Country Level Indicator(s):

The mandatory country level indicator is included in the aggregation of the corporate indicator under SO.2 only if all the following conditions are met during the reporting year:

  • The country level indicator is reported against sub-activity  FFA (Indicator 101) and FFT (83).

  • The ABI has an annual follow-up value greater than zero and greater than its        baseline; OR

  • The EIG indicator has an annual follow-up value greater than zero and greater then its baseline

Only CO-level indicators meeting all criteria above are eligible for aggregation.

CALCULATION & AGGREGATION
METHODOLOGY

This indicator is derived from the aggregation of the country-level indicators listed above.

Indicator Calculation: A+B-C where:

  • A= Number of COs where ABI>0% and >baseline, indicating the targeted communities report enhanced livelihood asset base

  • B= Number of COs where EIG>0% and >baseline, indicating participants in FFT activities engaged in income generating activities because of enhanced skills

  • C= Number of COs where we have A and B

DISAGGREGATION FOR REPORTING IN APR

Mandatory:

  • A=Number of countries where only enhanced assets contributed to enhance livelihoods

  • B=Number of countries where only enhanced skills contributed to enhance livelihoods

  • C=Number of countries where enhanced assets and skills contributed to enhance livelihoods

BASELINE

Countries with ABI>0% and >baseline: A= 35 COs

Countries with EIG>0% and >baseline: B= 11 COs

Overlap CO where A and B= C= 8 COs

Indicator Baseline: A+B-C= 35+11-8= 38 COs

LIMITATIONS

This indicator counts the number of countries in which Food Assistance for Assets (FFA) and/or Food Assistance for Training (FFT) interventions have demonstrably contributed to enhancing and adapting the livelihood base and skills of beneficiaries.

This indicator does not provide information on the number of beneficiaries reached by FFA and FFT activities nor on the type of transfers provided as support, nor on the duration of these activities. Details on beneficiaries, transfers and type of training are reported separately under standard output 2.1.

As this indicator is calculated using perception-based outcome indicators, if a given country where FFA/FFT actitivies are implemented is not counted, it means that the CO needs to review their programme implementation and take corrective actions as needed to ensure the real and perceived benefits of these activities are aligned and as planned.
