RESPONSIBLE DIVISION

TEC

MR OUTPUT

2.5. Innovation and technology

PURPOSE

This KPI helps WFP track how well its digital tools and systems work together. It shows the percentage of technologies that follow shared design and connection rules, making sure they are reliable, secure, and easy to integrate. By looking at both how systems are built and how they connect with each other, the KPI gives a clear picture of whether WFP is creating a unified digital environment across headquarters and field offices. It highlights TEC’s role in reducing duplication, improving compatibility, and making services run more smoothly. Ultimately, it supports better data sharing, system reuse, and consistent communication between platforms—key ingredients for a connected and efficient organisation

CALCULATION FORMULA

Result KPI =  (Number of digital solutions and system integrations that meet both Enterprise Architecture (EA) and integration standards / Total number of digital solutions and system integrations) X 100

CALCULATION STEPS

  1. Population Identification: All digital solutions and system integrations across WFP (HQ and field) that fall under TEC’s oversight are identified and included in the assessment scope

  2. Compliance Assessment: Each solution/integration is assessed against predefined enterprise architecture and integration standards. These standards are maintained by TEC Architecture and Integration teams and applied consistently across all evaluations

  3. Scoring: Solutions are marked as compliant only if they meet both:

  • Architecture compliance criteria (e.g., design patterns, security, scalability)

  • Integration alignment criteria (e.g., use of standard APIs, data exchange protocols)

DATA SOURCE

Data is available from WFP TEC Divisions reviews, inventories and records of WFP digital platforms

DATA COLLECTION METHOD

Data collection for this KPI is based on a structured evaluation process that begins with identifying all digital solutions and system integrations under TEC’s oversight across WFP. Each solution is reviewed against a set of established enterprise architecture and integration standards, maintained by TEC’s Architecture and Integration teams. The assessment ensures consistency and objectivity by applying uniform criteria across HQ and field operations. Only solutions that meet both architectural and integration requirements are considered compliant, allowing TEC to monitor the overall level of interoperability within WFP’s digital ecosystem

ASSUMPTIONS

Solutions submitted for compliance include complete and accurate documentation from business owners and vendors, enabling full evaluation against architecture and integration standards

LIMITATIONS

This KPI does not account for digital solutions or system integrations that fall outside TEC’s oversight, such as those developed or deployed independently by other units or through "Shadow IT" practices. As a result, the indicator may not fully reflect the interoperability status of the entire WFP digital landscape. Additionally, the KPI relies on the availability and accuracy of documentation and governance reviews, which may vary across operations and regions
